What a simple idea! I've been trying to use more vegetables with breakfast ever since I began to near 40. Most people who have made this say to pre cook the peppers either by boiling or frying ahead of the eggs. I bet if you bought this in a restaurant it would be $14.99.

Like many people of the internet generation, our family is plauged with the seemingly simple task of making a decent meal.

After we had broadband hooked up in 2003, our eating habits quickly went to hell. Typical meals consisted of bowls of cereal, frozen pizzas and ramin noodles (and they were often considered too hard to make!).

If you are looking for an actual recipe stop now. I'm still in the experimental stage, but I'm getting closer. We used to live right next door to Ingles in North Asheville so I often went down for a fresh "dollar muffin". The muffins were pretty tasty, unlike the rest of the gross baked stuff they sell. Flavors included Blueberry, Pistachio and Cranberry.

This year has been an awaking for me. Early in the year, clues started to come in about my Asperges Symptoms. That led to a good bit of research on people with similar issues. I read an interesting post at MeetTaylorMorris about "Dairy as a Disaster".

The recession has put our food budget in the vice. I try to stretch every dime I can while still keeping our food interesting and healthy. Several epiphanies have developed with our food consumption habits.

Here in Asheville, the number of vegetarians is quite high compared to national averages. Many restaurants and groceries have a multitude of vegetarian food to eat. I suppose that's probably due to the number of hippies and beatniks populated throughout the area. Asheville seems to be a magnet for art, hippies, vegetarians, musicians, outdoor enthusiasts and generally weird people.

Well, today we officially went into a recession according to some 'very important' economists in a faraway land. I've always been fairly good at saving money. We grew up that way in the Great North Woods. It was second nature. Just because you had lots of money one week, you didn't go out and blow it. There may be a financial dry spell for the next 3 months. We were taught to buy a cupboard full of can goods during good times. This weekend, I was discussing with Dawn that financially, there are 3 kinds of people in regards to budgets.
