Maddox: I Hope SOPA Passes

  • Fantastic Find

The fantastic find of the week is Maddox. I've been waiting a long time to comment on SOPA and PIPA because I can't find voices out there that feel the way I do.

I've written before how ineffectual click activism and sissy-pants revolts are. We have these dumb ass kids on the internet screaming and yelling about what is righteous and true, yet if you actually asked them to sacrifice something would they?

Maddox is right about SOPA and PIPA. If we defeat it today, congress will simply repackage it; rename it and wait patiently.

A common tactic of law makers  is to wait until people become distracted with other nonsense in the media. Next time we may see the bill wrapped up with some misleading name like "Child Protection Act". There is too much money at stake for our corporate-controlled officials to give up. I've heard the same idea from No Agenda Show. SOPA/PIPA is just a smoke screen to wear us out so they can hit us with more shitty legislation when we roll over and go to sleep.

What true activism tastes like.

I wish to hell that more people would realize what is truly effective. We need to starve these psychopaths out. Would you make the sacrifice of not watching any Hollywood movies this year? Would you stop buying iPads every year like clockwork? Would you drop your cable subscription and take out books from the local library. Would you do these things?

Would you funnel your boiling anger into your buying habits?

That's what it takes to starve dollars from the corporations that are controlling our government.

Protest all you want. Call your senator. They are laughing at you. As long as a steady stream of dollars is flowing in the form of lobby money everybody in control is A-OK.

That lobby money comes from you. Like Maddox is saying. You need to boycott companies like Walt Disney, ABC, Sony, Dell and L'Oreal. When you stop buying their products, profits go down and their power to influence congress disinegrates.

If you seriously want to make a difference then use your dollar as your sword. Nobody is saying you have to live in a cave. Still, would you sacrifice even 20% of your lifestyle so you can stick it to Hollywood and other corrupt corporations who have out-of-control power?
